July     Learn Computer Basics

New at using computers? This class will provide you with a basic introduction to the PC computer.  You will explore the inner workings of a computer, learn the fundamentals of the Windows Operating system and applications, and navigate the Internet. Teacher: Ralph Silva.

 

Cost: Open to anyone from the low-income community, free of charge

 

Dates and Times: July 15, 16, 17, 22, 23 and 24 from 2-4pm

 

Where: VAL Computer Lab, 90 Birge Street, Brattleboro

 

Application Process: An application must be completed at least one week prior to the start of class as space is limited. Come into Vermont Adult Learning any Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday morning to fill out an application.

   August   Begin Using Word and Excel

Need a basic overview to word processing and spreadsheets? This class provides the fundamentals of creating Word documents and Excel spreadsheets. Teacher: Ralph Silva.

 

Cost: Open to anyone from the low-income community, free of charge

 

Dates and Times: August 12, 13, 14, 19, 20 and 21 from 2-4pm

 

Where: VAL Computer Lab, 90 Birge Street, Brattleboro

 

Application Process: An application must be completed at least one week prior to the start of class as space is limited. Come into Vermont Adult Learning any Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday morning to fill out an application.

September   Care and Feeding of Your PC

Interested in learning how to secure your PC, conduct safe Internet searches and protect email? This class will provide you with common computer maintenance operations and information on protecting your PC and applications.  Topics will include security measures for your computer, safe surfing and email.  Students should be familiar with basic PC operations, booting up, use of the mouse, email and Internet searching skills.  Teacher: Ralph Silva.

 

Cost: Open to anyone from the low-income community, free of charge

 

Dates and Times: September 16, 17, 18, 23, 24, 25 from 2-4pm

 

Where: VAL, 90 Birge Street, Brattleboro
